Twenty Eleven Brides…

If you are getting used to that new diamond on your left hand…

Enjoy all the richness of this time. Next year you will probably be a newlywed who is settling into a new chapter in your life.
Everything will work out & everything will find its place.
For now, the place you are in… is a very good one! ♥

Looking at bare branches, sloshing through cold rain, and tightening up my coat lately leads me to believe it must be close to winter… even if I swear it must be September. There haven’t been any posts lately. Not for lack of content, just prioritizing time with meeting deadlines & taking care of my family in the midst of one {huge} home project after another. They always take longer than you think {trust me}! The chaos & clutter of a busy fall is still evident in what feels like every corner of this little home. Sometimes it can be frustrating to have a vision of how you want everything to be, but feel like it’s just not happening fast enough.

Today we are all reflecting on what we are grateful for. As a military wife, thankfulness has become a practice that eases many other disappointments. As a mama, it brings new life to mornings that begin after very long nights. Being thankful is powerful, it always positively affects the atmosphere of my mental state.

When I see tools overtaking my kitchen, I feel gratitude that my husband is here to use them.

When I trip over train tracks, I smile because of the little engineer that builds them brightens my world everyday.

When I see itty bitty laundry, I cherish these moments of my baby’s tiny size.

It gets harder and harder to remember why I could ever feel discontent when I am so aware of all the ways my life is overflowing with blessings.♥

Rocky & the boys were reuniting after two weeks apart for him to work on the living room. He just refinished the floors {not pictured} & we have “moved back” in this past week! I honestly am not able to picture what life would be like if Damian still wouldn’t have met his daddy for another two months! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

      *LOVE* 🙂

I thought September went fast. But now October is drawing to a close & I have no idea how it is possible it went even quicker than last month.

Remember our little “vintage” house I mentioned a few posts back? Well, it was time to gut the living room & rebuild it… for many many good reasons. My husband, Rocky, has been working hard at it for two weeks while I have been staying with my parents. He has been texting me images of his progress, but cut me off tonight and said that I’m not allowed to see any more until I come back. I miss him & can’t wait to see the big reveal this weekend… and go trick or treating with all my “mans!” Last year I was photographing a super sweet & glamorous couple’s wedding & missed out on our tradition. It always means a lot when I’m able to enjoy holidays as a family. {I remain grateful that the boys have their daddy with them}.

This month I’ve been able to work with some lovely people & photograph some projects that have me giddy with excitement to share with you all! The first is a chic, budget friendly, mock Halloween party styled by Alli, the creator of the blog “Hooray Design.”

She gives a wonderful narrative on her blog, so check it out for sure! Here is the eye candy from the lovely shoot she set up:

Alli thank you so much for creating such a lovely Halloween tablescape, it was so much fun to have a coworker for a day! We have some more inspiration coming up for the winter as well… you will not want to miss it {this girl is a genius}!

I hope everyone has a lovely Halloween weekend! I can’t wait to get my shark & octopus all set to go grab some candy ♥

Looking back at the photographs, I feel a tiny yearning for the lush greenery & golden sunlight. The leaves have been waltzing delicately to the ground & skies have been overcast & gray. But this has been a good week. Amazing. And wonderful. Because the baby in these pictures was born, healthy & strong. Congratulations to your beautiful family Sarah!

I love when siblings and daddy’s can make it to the shoot… it’s so precious to see everyone together in pictures once more before the little one arrives!

Sarah loves autumn. Ever since we were little she would get giddy about all things fall & even the interiors of her home are influenced by the color palette this season brings. I love that she now has a little one born during her favorite month!

    {Stay tuned for his newborn session} ♥

I’ve always loved the movie, It’s A Wonderful Life. Not only for the lovely imagery of that era, or the sweet love story between George & Mary, or the romance of Christmas embodied in the 130 minutes of the film… but because I always dreamed of restoring an old house the way Mary does.

My husband & I both grew up in old homes and have decided that perhaps the layout was quite similar to each other… according to our memories and cross referencing our childhood stories. The house we live in now, is not quite an antique, but definitely old enough to need some cash thrown into it tender love. We spend many conversations speculating the most strategic ways to make it our own. It’s kind of exciting to see it slowly become a place with our fingerprints on it.

This week we had all the windows replaced. There were some that would not budge or were missing screens, so I find myself accidentally smiling as I smugly open them on purpose. Just because I can.

While the men were working on them, they put plastic over my “studio office” {another work in progress} as protection. I was forced to take a little break from work that day & treated myself to a scrumptious breakfast that included lightly toasted bread & some black raspberry jam I found last week at the farmers’ market…

I think I will need to close off the studio just a little more often. Have a lovely weekend ♥
