Recently I have challenged myself to make photography sessions even more personal to the lovely people in front of my camera.
I want them to show me all the intricate notes that their life’s symphonies are composed of…
Then they will have artwork that interprets their song with authenticity.

Jenifer & Tim invited me to a farm that is a common motif in their love story. They have both been raised caring for horses & participating in fairs & shows. It was an unexpectedly chilly & very windy afternoon, but they were wonderful. The shoot took place at Royal Creek Farm in Springfield, Ohio. It sits on over sixty acres & offers several trails for riders. If you are looking to book a local rustic wedding venue, I would recommend checking out their website.

I wish them both the best & many thanks for letting me peek inside your world! ♥

Mike & Libby met in college and are planning an October wedding in Columbus at the Franklin Park Conservatory. I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in an engagement session before they moved to California & I had this baby! As I was getting closer to meeting them off North High Street, I was mesmerized by the adorable shops & atmosphere of what I now know is the Short North Arts District. I drove a little slower to take in the restaurants, shops, & pedestrians roaming casually. I couldn’t help but feel a little sad that we don’t have anything like this here in Dayton!

Libby & Mike suggested doing some photographs at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. Even if I weren’t nine months pregnant I’d still be impressed by their unusual {yummy} flavors, kind service, and cute decor. But since I am, I was in heaven eating my Salty Caramel & Meyer Lemon Blueberry scoops! Check out Jeni’s website for locations & more details: http://jenisicecreams.com/

We began shooting with steady sunshine and warm temperatures. By the end of it, there was sideways rain & tornado sirens so we abruptly wrapped everything up! Although I left as quickly as possible, I will definitely need to come back with Rocky sometime. I highly recommend this location and it’s possibilities to all my Columbus brides for engagement shoots or even a picture stop during the wedding day.

Libby & Mike, I wish you all the best as you settle in to California. Can’t wait to shoot your wedding this fall ♥

You can tell just by speaking with Becki on the phone that she is really sweet. I was excited to meet her & Brandon, who will be getting married next August. I loved hearing their proposal story, so my only regret is that we did not incorporate a fortune cookie into their engagement pictures. Maybe the wedding…?

When I do photo shoots, I start by doing very formal, posed shots. I feel like the sooner we get them out of the way, the more my subjects can relax & we can dive into more natural {& fun} ideas. Another advantage, is that the hair & make up are fresh for that close up. After we went through this part, Brandon & Becki were game for anything. It was great to know that they trusted me & were willing to work with me. They also had some great ideas {see the truck picture at the end}. Thanks you two, looking forward to the beautiful wedding this summer!

    That last shot is awesome!

I like Jimmy & Ashley. They are hilarious & really laid back. Those are two really great qualities to find, but to top it off, look how gorgeous they are! Kind of makes me feel like I hit a jackpot by being their photographer :]

So you will notice that these took place in Tipp City with lots of fall colors. Just browsing through these to select photos for this post made me really miss that time of year {sigh}. I always encourage a change of clothes {even if it’s just a different top or change of shoes}, because I love how the tone can change based on the outfit. It’s always nice to have a little variety to choose from when you get your proofs. Plus, when we are shooting in diverse locations, different backdrops will really correlate to certain outfits better than others. I love the color palette in the first couple pictures with the blues, creams, and mahogany.

These are some of my favorites from that beautiful {warm} fall day. Enjoy!
