Sweet Threads: Cherishing Every Stitch Of This Precious Life
Personal Posts by Andrea Dozier

Yesterday I wrote a little something to Rocky for Father’s Day. I was in the middle of posting the link here, and was interrupted by Damian waking up. He had a runny nose earlier in the day, but we didn’t think much of it. He woke because he was having trouble breathing, sometimes gasping for air. I started to panic & tried to think of what I should do first for my sick little man. Then I saw Rocky come out of our bedroom on a mission. Although he had been sleeping, he immediately went to work. Before I knew it, he had the suction tube, the vaporizer, the baby rub. I got to cuddle & rock Damian while his Daddy took care of making us comfortable.

Within a few moments I was holding a sleeping baby & feeling so thankful for the man I married seven years ago.

This rainy morning Damian is doing just fine. His little puppy eyes are a little droopy but he is still walking around & getting into mischief like his usual self.
I know he’ll never really know all of the things his Daddy does to “make us more comfortable,”
but I truly hope he & Kevin will grow into men just like him.
♥

Here are some photographs that I treasure from the past couple months:

I’ve been trying to cherish the moments I have with my family. I always take pictures of them, but until recently, I haven’t revisited them enough. I started (my third!) Blogger blog & I’m hoping this one sticks! It’s nice to have a little place to celebrate my little family & the sweetness in life. You can check it out at http://sweetthreads.blogspot.com/ ♥

Andrea! I love reading the pieces you post! They always make me smile, and remind me of how much I appreciate my husband and how much fun I have with my kids! You’re so inspiring, too! Every time I read your blog or look at your pictures, I just want to create something ! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us!

Thanks Michelle, he is so special 🙂 Sarah, thanks! I am so happy to see it updated & able to use it again! Melanie, THANK YOU! That was so sweet of you to say. I wish I had more time to “do it all” but that makes me feel like the time I spend doing this is worth it! Thanks!

His eyes teared up as he spoke with conviction, “It’s like the best birthday I’ve ever had.”

“Rocky, it’s not your birthday.”

Then we laughed. I knew what he meant.
He was on his way to buy the bike of dreams & was slightly enthusiastic.

When I met Rocky, he had two things that meant the world to him. A sporty little black coupe & a bull mastiff, Max. Rocky didn’t blink an eye when it was time to sell his car in order to get a “Kevin friendly” suv. Since then, he rotates between his old Suzuki bike & a car that somehow makes it to work everyday. He loves putting miles on that little thing & never complains. Although he does sometimes mention that without air conditioning his 30 minute commute kind of sucks.

This week it seemed the motorcycle gods decided he needed a break. He found a buyer for his current bike & a shop in Columbus posted a Hayabusa in {of course} black. I will admit that I couldn’t remember the name of it & did a search on Google for Suzuki H… in order to figure out how to spell it. All I can tell you is that he is crazy about it.

Some parts of our life haven’t been easy peesy {as Kevin would say}. I think we’ve ridden the roller coaster with white knuckles & came out breathlessly leaning on each other. He’s taken care of our little family from Afghanistan, from a wheelchair, & from blood sweat & tears as he has ripped this little house apart in order to build it into something better for us.

My heart was just so happy to see how happy he was.

He tells me that he can’t think of anything else he could possibly want. I have a feeling that sometime soon he’s going to find a little droopy eyed, slobbering, four legged friend that wants to live with us & play frisbee with all the mans.

Honestly, I can’t wait.♥

We took a little ride & it is definitely a comfy upgrade from his last one.
Happy Father’s Day Rocky.  ♥

* THIS POST WAS IMPORTED FROM MY PERSONAL BLOG ON BLOGGER TO THIS WORDPRESS BLOG
We’ll celebrate her graduation tomorrow, and I am sort of pinching myself because
I don’t really know how 18 years went so fast…
She wanted some pictures to decorate for the party so she drove down here & we had a spontaneous sunset shoot. We left the house & had no idea where we were going, but I think it turned out well.
You can see more pictures from her session over on my photography blog here.

My lovely little sister graduated from high school & we took pictures to celebrate.

Dear Abby,

I was in third grade when you were born. I remember hoping you would share my birthday, but instead you arrived two days later. You had a flaky newborn nose & I was ecstatic to have a baby sister. We didn’t have a typical sister relationship, because I was so much older. I don’t think we ever fought & I adored you. We shared a room, watched {girly} movies & I celebrated everything you ever did. Especially when you quit sucking your thumb {haha}.

Now I barely recognize you. All grown up. Super long hair {I’m jealous}. Packing up for college soon. Watching my kids the way I took care of you.

I truly celebrate everything about who you have become.

You’ve heard dozens of sweet speeches, but I will just say one thing more.

Please visit us often, you gorgeous, gorgeous sister. ♥

She is absolutely gorgeous!! I’m jealous of her long hair too, mine’s got the length but not the life. 😀 I love the love you two have, lots of sisters don’t have that. I’m glad to see you honor it.

Andrea, I need to show you the video we took of when Abby first met her siblings at the hospital. Mom and I recently saw the video and it was so touching. Children are truly a “gift” from the Lord and we all have so much to be Thankful for!
    Love always………dad

Thank you all so much, this was such a special project to me! We were definitely trying to avoid the typical “senior” look but still capture her youth… that’s why I loved the bandaid shot! Kristi, I didn’t know that, so cool! It was so cool to have such a good friendship with her & practice being a mommy 😀

Kevin loves helping with certain chores.
He insists on arranging my bedroom pillows each morning,
mopping {with the Swiffer}, and his favorite… cleaning the toilet.
He is not really into cleaning his room, which explains why I have not seen the floor all week.

When life settles down again {after today} we will be all over that.
For now, I will just pretend the rest of my house looks this peaceful. ♥

* My husband spent almost three weeks gutting & rebuilding this bathroom. A Before & After will definitely be posted someday… he worked magic in that little room. Magic.
